Museum of Victims of Political Repression
There is no future without historical memory, and the memory of the victims is sacred. Honoring the memory of victims of repression, dreaming of the current light recently, had offered their lives in the name of noble goals, it is a sacred duty to present and future generations.
That is why in order to perpetuate the sacred memory of compatriots, calling the nation to freedom, have shown heroism in the struggle for freedom and independence of their country, repressed during the colonial regime in the capital in 2000 on the banks of Bozsu on the initiative of President Islam Karimov, was erected complex "Shakhidlar hotirasi". Since 20-ies of XX century to the beginning of World War II, the place of construction of the complex served as a place of execution of the punitive organs of Soviet power. In this area, there are three places where burying the victims of repression, shot dead in the city of Tashkent. Memorial complex combines these three places. It was here that was shot the best part of the Uzbek intelligentsia of the time - poets, scientists, writers, actors, engineers.
