This museum is one of the oldest sources of the culture of our state. It was founded on September 17, 1933 by the decision of the Termez city municipal committee as the Surkhandarya inter-district State Museum. The museum is a museum of the II category, earlier it was called "Exhibition of achievements of Surkhandarya region of Soviet times". On November 7, 1933, the decision of the Council of People's Commissars of the Uzbek SSR was renamed the Surkhandarya Inter-District Museum in the city of Termez.
